I wanted to play a hack and slash game to kill the time when I didn't have access to internet for my Android device. When I tried Dungeon Hunter 4, I was very impressed with its mechanics and gameplay, not being online wasn't a hindrance at all.

WHAT’S THE MEANING?

Hack and Slash, sometimes stylized as hack-and-slash or hack ‘n slash, is a game genre that is characteristically defined by its emphasis on hand-to-hand combat and violence. This may include grappling or fighting with the use of handheld weapons. The term was originally used in the 1980s to describe tabletop games like Dungeons and Dragons and carried over to video games with the same emphasis on fighting and not on the game’s storyline. Hack and slash games generally revolve around the idea of a hero who must defeat hordes of enemies by himself. The player advances from level to level by defeating the enemies who come at him from all directions.

DID YOU KNOW?

Did you know that according to a study published in the Journal of Experimental Social Psychology, virtual violence in video games can cause violent behavior in real life? Players become desensitized to violence because of their continuous exposure to it. Moreover, because players are rewarded in the game for participating in violence, violent games become an effective teaching tool for perpetuating aggressive behavior. Both the American Psychological Association and the American Academy of Pediatrics are against violent video games because of the link found between behavior and video games. However, an opposing view is put forward by Whitney DeCamp in his own study. DeCamp states that kids who play violent video games may be predisposed to violence and aggression, instead of the other way around. Regardless of the direction of causation, however, it is clear that there exists a link between violent behavior and violent video games.
