"It's been six years since this game launched and it is still one of the best examples of open world games done right. Rockstar Games know their open world games and it shows in their latest GTA game. From the story to the level design and the various activities, it was just a great experience overall."

WHAT'S THE MEANING

Open world games are forms of video games where a player or a group of players can explore a virtual world without running into invisible walls like in linear games. These open world games have boundaries but are often displayed as unsurpassable forms of land or water.

 DID YOU KNOW

Did you know that Rockstar North and Rockstar Games' Grand Theft Auto is credited with getting the general gaming audience hooked on the open world video game genre? In October 1997, Rockstar Games released the first of many versions of Grand Theft Auto and quickly became a commercial success, recording more than one million copies sold in less than a year. The first game had a big impact on British culture that it was voted among the top 10 in the Great British Design Quest in 2006, along with the World Wide Web and the game Tomb Raider. Rockstar Games continued the series and even produced spin-offs, like GTA: London 1969, GTA 2, GTA: Vice City, and almost all were huge commercial successes. Vice City sold 20 million copies but was overshadowed by GTA: San Andreas in 2004, when it sold 27.5 million copies. All in all, the series had 16 titles, and the latest, GTA V, was the most successful yet, selling 90 million copies since its release in 2013.

"It's too bad that we will never get to see a sequel to this underrated game as it is truly one of my all time favorites. You can think of it like Grand Theft Auto with more Asian influences. What makes this truly standout is its deep-rooted martial arts influences the gunplay and the hand-to-hand combat is very reminiscent of what you would in a Hong Kong-style John Woo action film. Truly one of the great open world games that deserve more recognition."

"Massive. Classic. At this point, I feel like everybody knows about this game and has spent at least a bit of time noodling around, or has dived in and been deeply immersed in it for countless hours. I'm a big fan and I have a hard time letting go of it once I start a session. The gameplay is fluid, effortless, intuitive. The visuals are out of this world - I could just stroll around and admire the scenery unfolding around me - it's total eye candy. I have to admit though, that if you want to play it in Multiplayer mode you might be disappointed - I've never seen a lot of players out there every time I tried. But the game is not really meant to be played that way anyway, so it's not a problem for me. Definitely a game to try, if you haven't tried it already."
