DID YOU KNOW?

Did you know that not all pirate ship used a Jolly Roger flag? Jolly Roger is the traditional name for pirate flags that are used to signal that pirate ships are about to attack. The symbols on the Jolly Roger flag usually includes a skull and crossbones. Pirates don’t just use this flag for no reason. For them, it serves as an emblem. It’s like a certification that someone is a pirate and having it on the ship is enough for them. Carrying the Jolly Roger flag also means that they have nothing to fear, nothing to lose, and they are ready to be arrested or even die.

Though the Jolly Roger is really popular during the late 17th and early 18th century also known as the Golden Age of Piracy, not all Pirates carried it on their ship. One of those who refused to use Jolly Roger was Edward Teach or popularly known as Blackbeard. He is the most feared pirate of all because he intimidates enemies by curling smoking fuses into his long beard and by slinging multiple pistols and daggers across his chest. Blackbeard has his own black flag featuring a skeleton with horns. The skeleton on his flag held an hourglass in one hand and a spear pointing to a heart dripping with three drops of blood on the other hand. In the present day, pirate flags are now just popular symbols that can be seen as a fashion template, in movies portraying pirate characters, books about pirates, or in pirate games. These pirate games feature characters with popular pirate identification like eye patches, beards, pirate ships and of course, pirate flags. You can find and download the best pirate games on PC or mobile.
