"I want to say that Vagante is an action packed platform game that I just can't step away from, but that isn't necessarily true. While I really enjoyed the classic look to game and I liked the overall intention of the game, I must say it was very difficult to get use to the controls. It really is close to Roguelike except I would say it just lacks something that Roguelike had. I'm not sure what it is but there's just something off about it. I do appreciate that Steam has made this available though. I like that the combat is fast paced with good precise movements, there isn't a lot of clumsiness there. Where it kind of falls short is just overall control. I'm playing this on PC, and it definitely comes close to Roguelike, but the intuitive controls aren't there for me. Maybe it's my poor reflexes and dexterity but I don't think I'm that bad! I will definitely give it another run. Hopefully I can get more into it this time. I just dread overly difficult learning curves in games of this nature."

"If you like roguelike games, then Vagante is your game! It's like Dungeons and Dragons coming alive and blending with Mario and Zelda. The creators definitely put in their time creating an incredibly engaging world for us to explore. The ridiculously addicting levels are extremely well crafted and the pace of the battles are by far some of the most fun I have ever had. The quests involved take you deep into another world, which I love to explore when I play with my friends. The team wars are even more vivid than ones we have played on Dungeons and Dragons. Overall I think Vagante is a perfect blend of new with old and it has an incredible imagination to really make a whole engaging universe for you to explore."

"Vagante is an Independently developed game which has some unique features that may set it apart from other games in its genre. Vagante is described as an adventure game which takes place in a dark fantasy world filled with creatures and crooks. One of the most unique feature of this 2D side-scrolling game, is that it actually features permanent death. This twist on the traditional game play of having 'lives' , or re-trying a level if you die, looks like it could be an interesting change in certain rules in a game. The site says you can play Vagante with friends in Multiplayer mode and describes it as "...an action packed plat-former"."

"If you like rogue likes it's probably a must have. The split screen is totally integrated in the game and it feels fluid. Generally, the game flows smoothly thanks to a beautiful gameplay that runs like a charm. And the game doesn't skimp on interesting details. For example, there are new bosses on every level and tons of back door accesses and secret pathways - and that adds to the excitement and the feeling of a rich universe. A lot of fun when played with friends as well, which is a plus for me. Not crazy about the artwork but I have to admit it's well done and it works - so, who am I to complain , right? Overall neat."

"Vagante is an interesting game. It's not much of a looker, but it's got some neat ideas in there. It's just unfortunate that I don't like rougelike games, so this one didn't really appeal to me. Also, it's still in Early Access, and I hate the idea of buying an unfinished product with the vague promise that it'll one day be completed on my dime and the dimes of everyone else who bought it ahead of time. Still, it's not a bad game, and I think there's some bright ideas in there, but it's not for me, and even if I did like rougelikes, I couldn't recommend it until it's finished."

"The graphics are pixelated but the design of each level and the scenery was lovely. The music was good. The action is non-stop. It is a side-scrolling action packed dungeon roguelike game. You play in caves, dungeons, outdoors and have to defeat a myriad of enemies. It is still on early access but you can play with friends co-operatively once the game is fully released. However, if you can't wait for the full release of the game and don't want to play a game that may have a few glitches here or there you might want to look for something else."

"With roguelike games becoming more and more popular for developers, it's always best to keep an eye out on new releases. Some of them fall flat, but fortunately this one seems to be a gem in the rough! Even though it's in early access, and I advise caution before jumping straight in, it shows a lot of promise and I've had a blast on it so far! I can't say that it offers too much innovative from the genre, but the ability to play with others is nice, and once it's more fleshed out I feel like this will be a quality game to invest in."

"There are a lot of action-adventure 2D platformer rogue-lites on Steam. A LOT. It seems like every other indie title in Early Access is a roguelite platformer. But this one has some good ideas, at least - it has a rich fantasy theme and some well-balanced gameplay, at least. But if you're looking for something genre-defining or revolutionary, you're just going to have to move on. If you really love the genre and are interested in a solid example, I recommend it - but otherwise, it's not going to add anything new."

"If you asked me a year ago when I bought Vagante if I thought you should buy this game I would point at the early access tag and tell you to wait. Well it's a year later and I'm saying go for it, the developers did not abandon it and instead are bringing it steadily to completion. That doesn't mean this game is easy, it as hard as you would expect but it is also fair and that's what makes a good roguelike. My only caveat is some lingering bugs that I would have hoped would have been squashed by now."

"This gamer was developed mainly based on the feedback from the beta demo version. The developers truly wanted to create a game for their game players by giving them exactly what they wanted. This is a very rare opportunity that you don't want to let slip by. Together with their expert skills they interrogated points that their players wanted to have changed or added. This is as close as one can get with features that truly seem custom made just for you. You definitely want to try this game out."

But it doesn't play like one, oh, no, no, no. Movement is fast and smooth, not slow and clunky like an old arcade game. And you enjoy TONS of weapons, combinations, terrain types and floor layouts.
