DID YOU KNOW?

Star Command, one of Slant’s best space-themed games for Android faced a bit of a financial problem and was caught up in many delays. Kickstarter, an American corporation that maintains global crowdfunding platform that helps bring life to creative ideas and projects launched a campaign for the game on October 2011. It was a success for it exceeded the initial goal of $20,000 and earned over one thousand contributors that raised $43,000. Developer Jordan Coombs stated that the game’s initial phase was set to be done by December of 2011 but they later announced that the expected release is moved to 2012.

Another Kickstarter campaign was launched to fund the finishing of the mobile version of the game and create a PC and Macintosh version. Fans of the game were confused and angry with the fact that developers are asking for more money when the promised original version hasn’t been finished and released yet. The developers apologized for the delay and on May 2, 2013, the game was finally released. The game was made as a cross between Star Trek and Game Dev Story, a simulation video game. Players are members of Star Command which aims to protect human race and explore the universe.
