Did you know?

The creation of the Age of Empires wasn't an easy journey. It became one of the famous RTS games of its time. RTS, a game genre, is short for "Real Time Strategy". It is the kind of game in which you're supposed to move and think on your toes. Similar to chess, but on the digital scale. It involves creating bases of your own, managing resources, creating an army to conquer other bases. It was back in 1997 when Age of Empires was first released. But the whole planning happened in 1994 when Microsoft released WinG, the predecessor of DirectX. Warcraft, Command & Conquer, and Sid Meister's Civilization is already on the market. The creators decided to make a real-time version of Civilization. This was the dawn of the Age of Empires. They made a SWOT analysis on what the other RTS games were doing right and wrong. And from there, they decided to invest in a better AI, also known as artificial intelligence. Their AIs would play by the same rules that the human opponents would. No cheating, no multiplication of resources, no seeing the moves of the opponent. This is what sets Age of Empires different from the rest of the RTS games of their era.

Nowadays, AoE had to progress with everyone else. Android gaming news sites announced the arrival of Age of Empires for Android in 2015. Although AoE got pulled off the market, there are still tons of Android games to play. Some are even similar to the original idea of the Age of Empires series. Just because Age of Empires is not available on Android anymore, doesn't mean that it is completely gone. It left a mark on the history of gaming. Its essence and spirit are alive and well in the games of today's generation.
