Banished
This game is a mixed bag, on one hand I love the premise and setting, that being a more realistic ancient city builder, if you don't make enough farms your people will starve to death and without warm enough homes they will freeze in the winter, the game looks great as well. On the other hand though, it can become quite dull after you've played it for a while, most of the buildings look extremely similar and it never really feels like you've progressed beyond a struggling settlement into a powerful city. If you like city builders I'd recommend giving it a go, but maybe wait for a sale first. More

From the available sources around it, how can you build a community? Resourcefulness is the key.

If you're looking for a new fun and exciting strategy game, look no further than Banished, the next great city-building game. You can spend countless hours customizing your world to exactly how you want it! More

I've spent about 20 hours on this game so far, and I'm liking it very much. The graphics good, and it's not a fast paced game so you can play it at your own pace. It's easy to get into, but it gets challenging later on, so it doesn't get boring. If you like strategy, city building game, I think you will really like this game. More

I've played thousands of hours of AoE II. It was pretty much the only game I played while growing up. Its safe to say I'm an aficionado, so I was really pumped for Aoe III. Its a fairly solid game, but it doesn't come close to the awesomeness that 2 provides. If you're dying for more AoE give it a try, but otherwise, stick to 2. More

Based on the previous installments of this game, I'm impressed with this version.

Age of Empires III is one of my favorite city building games on Steam. It is similar to Sims where you build a city, home, country, etc, and attempt to conquer and master the game. More
Rebuild 3: Gangs of Deadsville is a strategy and simulation video game developed by Northway Games, released on May 30, 2015. This survival game is set in a post-apocalyptic theme where survivors scavenge for food and resources.

I love this game! It's not just another zombie game. Sometimes I watch The Walking Dead and think "That's not how I'd build my community. And now, I know exactly how I would! It's like actually surviving the zombie apocalypse! More

Awesome game! Building a city with many zombies around? Challenge accepted.

Rebuild 3 is a pretty decent build game, and there's plenty to do and manage like most of its genre. It is a 3rd version though, which means that while game play has improved a little, story's fallen a little to the wayside. More

Super fun game, this is one of those games that you just can't stop playing. Nice mix of strategy and simulation. Highly recommend.

This looks awesome. I love the 2D art style of this. I came for city building, stayed for the zombies!
by Jordan Lane
I like the look and the graphics. I do get a bit concerned about using real people for story lines though. This game uses the Norse as some kids, unfortunately, only learn a little bit of history from movies and gaming. But this one is based on mythology anyway, so I guess that is okay. I'm a stickler for kids knowing facts about Vikings rather than just perpetuated legends, even if it is just in modern games. Still, I must give kudos to the game makers for a visually appealing game here. More

Northgard looks like a promising RTS and City building game. Currently it is in Early Access but you can already see the developers have put a lot of thought into the creation of this game. There is a small learning curve when starting this game but overall I have been impressed with I have seen so far and will continue to monitor the progress of this game. More

I would suggest looking elsewhere for a game like this. There are several options that are way better. This game lacks enough content to really be interesting. It is way to simple. More

Ever watch the show Vikings and thought "I could do better"? Well here is your chance. I love strategy games based on history so I was excited to find this game. You are in control of your own clan. It's your show to run. Personally, I find it a refreshing mix of being challenging without being overwhelming. I love it. More

Concrete jungle is is good city building game with the added aspect of a card based game to give it a bigger feeling of risk. It is priced pretty cheap so it doesn't have a high entry cost. It would be a great alternative to the higher priced city builder games. More

For an indie game, this one is good! There are different modes to play that can serve as a tutorial like the campaign mode.

This one looks like it would be great for your imagination. Just hoping it can keep my attention unlike other games of this type.

This is the perfect mix of S Simcity and a TCR! I spent all my time trying to build my deck. I actually missed my train stop! So I went around again playing Concrete Jungle the whole way! I'mm hooked! More

I love city building games and this is one of the best I've ever encountered. The graphics are beautiful. The only issue I have with it is that it seems very limited and predictable unless you buy the DLC. After buying the DLC, the game was much more worthwhile. More

I really didn't think I would enjoy this game, but I've been pleasantly surprised. Tropico 5 is an incredibly fun strategy game. You're basically building your own city and managing it. I've sunk hours into this game and would recommend. More

I wanted something like Sim City on Steam and I finally found Tropico 5. It is great in that is had multiplayer, the graphics are good and you can build an awesome city. I don't know how I missed Tropico 1- 4 but I'm sure glad I found this one. More

Stronghold Crusader HD is a great city building game with a mix of real-time strategy, which in my opinion is an added plus. Awesome gameplay and HD graphics make this a great purchase on Steam. The game has both multiplayer and single player modes, and 100 different maps to play, so I can see this providing me hours of entertainment. More

Want something new to play? Stronghold Crusader HD lets you head back in time and start your own medieval city.

There are tons of city building games on Steam, but this is one of the nicer ones. It seems like a modern version of an old school city builder and I really love that. More
by Gerald Reid
Stronghold Crusader HD was a disappointment when i played it. The graphics are outdated and the AI opponents are not as smart as you would want making the game extremely easy. More
by Peter Delgado
This game is great. For all you old school sim city lovers this is city building on steroids. So much fun to build giant sprawling cities and then maintain them, or burn them to the ground only to stat all over again. I can play this game for hours on end and love every second of it. More

This game will make you think critically and it makes the difference among other city building games. It will also test your budgeting skills.

Rise of Nations is a great game on steam, and I've now purchased the Extended Edition. The updates have made the game so much better, and it now includes Twitch.tv streaming! The most obvious change in the enhanced visuals and the inclusion of a full screen option which has made it so much easier for me to see the screen and the details of the landscape! More

Why settle for building just a city when one can build a whole world? Fun to build them up, fun to break them down! :)
by Robert Harper
What do you do if you want a city building game with depth?. You download Rise of Nations: Extended Edition of course and enjoy the slick gameplay as you advance through history. More

Rise of Nations is a great classic city builder. The graphics don't really look good today.
