Compared to how ableton works, audacity isnt really a digital audio workstation. But to be fair, I have edited samples, songs, and was able to process audio files throught it. More
by Amy Munoz
This is definitely a good solution for the problem, and I can say that with certainty because I've used Audacity myself for years. The fact that it's free and easy to get makes it a worthwhile solution to try. More

In my many years, of improvising as a music producer and engineer, I can say that Audacity is a good music creation software that has a lot of the elements that a producer needs to create media-ready material, aside from the fact that its free too

Ardour is a Digital Audio Workstation that allows you to record, edit and mix tracks, in a complete professional interface but also easy to learn and to use. Ardour is a very helpful tool for professionals such as audio engineers, musicians, and composers.
by Hao Cao
I have always wanted to try making music. The main obstacle has always been the pay wall for some of the more popular music making software like Cubase and Ableton which require a huge investment to even play around with. Ardour is different. Ardour is a free software solution that allows you to play around with creating your own music. It supports a large number of VSTs, which is the main component to any DAW, and provides all the features of other more expensive software packages. Definitely worth downloading. More

I have been consulting with my music producer friends as I was looking for the best free music production software and based on their advice, I settled on this one. Easy to use software which enabled me to process my sound specifically
Moreby Julia Brooks
I like Ardour, especially since it is a cross platform tool that works on Windows, Macs, and Linux. But it's definitely more for professionals and not the casual DJ. As long as you are looking for something feature loaded and geared towards audio and sound professionals, than Ardour is a great choice. More
by Sandra Hamilton
This website allows users to record music and to create what ever they want in regards to music. However I question its quality since it is free due to bad experiences in the past with free programs. More
by Frances Ramos
I liked using Ardour as a beginner. But as I learn more and try to do more fun things with my music, I see a lot of limitations. I think this is a good start but improvements are much needed. More

The positive is that it is a free cross-platform tool for making music. The issue I see is that there really isn't much information offered on the site in regards to functionality of the software and features are just listed indiscriminately. More
