WHAT'S THE MEANING?

A life simulation game is a type of game that places the player in a managerial role to control virtual lifeforms. In most cases, the goal of the life simulation game is for the player to survive and experience life as a human, animal, or depending on the type of creature being controlled. This type of game is also usually an endless game in which the possibility of winning is highly unlikely. The game gets to be played until the player dies in the game.

DID YOU KNOW?

One of the most successful and popular life simulation games is The Sims which was first released in 2000 by Will Wright. His first prototype of The Sims was made in 1993, and it only involved a single Sim living all by himself. Wright thought that the concept of having a player to interact with his Sims was impossible, but the help of programmer Jamie Doornbos proved that it was doable.

In 1996, Simlish or the fictional language of The Sims was developed. Wright teamed up with linguistic expert Marc Gimbel to develop a unique language, which resulted in a fractured Ukrainian, French, Latin, Finnish, English, Fijian, Cebuano, and Tagalog. While Simlish has a set vocabulary of familiar phrases, it cannot be considered as a true language since it has no grammar and syntax.
