During the phone conversation scene, Morpheus (Fishburne) instructs Neo (Reeves) to go through the window. Keanu did this himself without the aid of stunt double, 34 stories in the air. The Matrix (1999) is an anime-inspired film that depicts a story about a hacker who learns from rebels about the true nature of his reality and his role in the war against its controllers. The film was directed by the Wachowski Brothers and it stars Keanu Reeves, Laurence Fishburne, Carrie-Anne Moss, and more.
The Matrix was first released in the United States on March 31, 1999, with a cumulative worldwide gross of $463,517,383. The film won an Academy Award for Best Film Editing, Best Sound, Best Sound Effects, Sound Effects Editing, and Best Visual Effects in 2000 as well as other accolades including BAFTA Awards and Saturn Awards. In fact, the success of the film eventually led to the release of two film sequels, both written and directed by the Wachowskis: The Matrix Reloaded and The Matrix Revolutions. The Matrix franchise was also expanded through the production of video games, comic books, and animated short films, and even inspired books and theories on ideas in religion and philosophy.
