movie facts

The film’s first trailer dropped via Periscope on April 1, 2015, becoming the first advertiser to work with Twitter on its platform in such a manner. Though a veteran actor, this is Joel Edgerton’s first directorial effort. He also starred in, wrote, and helped produce it. Because he wanted to focus solely on directing, he completed his scenes early, within the first few weeks of the shooting schedule. It took him only seven days to film all of his scenes. Edgerton listed his influences as Alfred Hitchcock as well as the film Fatal Attraction. This is the first film released by STX Entertainment. Throughout the movie, the “gift” includes actual gifts given by Gordo to the couple, as well as the hint of friendship that Gordo seeks.
