movie facts

The movie is loosely based on the tales of the book The Decameroon by Giovanni Boccaccio. This short novella was written in the 14th century and was a popular one in Renaissance Italy. The movie only chronicles parts of the novella, notably the first and second stories of the third day. Many of the actors in this film has starred in much larger and significant roles and have even directed some films themselves. The film follows and shows the life of nuns very much like it would have actually been during the 14th century in Europe where nuns played a large role in society.
