It is one of the best games in history. For me, one of those adventures that make you love the medium more than literature or cinema. Red Dead Redemption is a brilliant spaghetti western where one is happy crossing the Rio Grande on horseback.
Rumors have circulated that Rockstar Games was considering remastering the original Red Dead Redemption from 2010, as well as Grand Theft Auto IV.
Unfortunately, those plans were canceled because the developer shifted its focus to the upcoming GTA 6, which we’ve discussed on a few occasions.
However, later reports indicated that both remasters were not actually canceled but rather put on hold… until now.
Red Dead Redemption for next-generation consoles and PCs
In a surprising turn of events, it has been suggested that not only will GTA IV be remastered or remade, but also a remake of Red Dead Redemption will be released by the end of this year.
It is worth noting that while Rockstar Games has practically confirmed the existence of the RDR remake by updating the domain on its website, the company has not officially announced either of the two games.
However, as the nature of the internet goes, rumors always spread like wildfire until there is an official confirmation… and today, we have one of those weighty rumors.
Courtesy of the subreddit ‘GamingLeaksandRumours,’ a supposed information leak claims that the Red Dead Redemption remake will be released in the spring of 2024 and will also include the Undead Nightmare expansion. Oh, and two alleged screenshots of the remake have also been shared.
At this point, the Red Dead Redemption remake is the worst-kept secret in history, if it eventually gets confirmed. However, regarding the alleged screenshots, it’s best not to take them at face value, as Reddit users have pointed out that they are fake and are actually from RDR2 in 4K.
Let’s hope that whether the Red Dead Redemption remake arrives by the end of this year or at some point in 2024, Rockstar Games will soon clear up the doubts and provide official information.
