Apple TV+ is one of the most promising platforms among all the existing ones today. It is the place where science fiction is finding its niche and where series like Ted Lasso are captivating a wide audience. However, it has already faced its first setbacks, and the latest one involves one of the comedies it was most confident in.

Surprisingly, Apple TV+ has cancelled High Desert, the series starring Patricia Arquette, in which she portrays a former addict who decides to turn her life around by becoming a private investigator after her mother’s death. Despite its dramatic premise, it is a comedy in which the platform had placed its trust, but it lasted only one season.

“It sucks but… it’s hard”

Patricia Arquette herself announced on her Instagram account the news of the series’ end, although she didn’t fully close the door on it:

“Many of you have asked about High Desert and whether there would be a season 2, so I want you to know that we just found out we won’t be coming back. It’s a sad disappointment for all of us. We had a blast. I love Peggy and that punk rock world. Thank you for watching. You can’t win them all. You know, it sucks, but… it’s tough.”

Apparently, the series didn’t gather enough audience, and that’s why Apple TV+ made this decision. However, there are still many other hits on the platform, such as Silo, the latest science fiction success, which just concluded its first season. And there are many other proposals that may surprise the fans of the VOD service.
