Australia, directed by Baz Luhrmann, was a box office success worldwide, although it didn’t make a big impression in the United States. Faraway Downs is Luhrmann’s attempt to remedy this: an expanded story divided into six parts about a British aristocratic widow, a rugged cattleman, and a young Aboriginal boy named Nullah.

A series to vindicate a great movie

Australia was a kind of return to the old epics of yesteryears. Starring two Hollywood stars, full of spectacle, and with three people caught in the relentless march of world history, including the bombing of Darwin during World War II.

With an additional hour of footage, Faraway Downs offers even more romance and spectacle than the Australian movie, which had a runtime of 2 hours and 45 minutes.

This means that Kidman’s character, the widowed and rather prim Lady Sarah Ashwell, is drawn to the rugged cattle drover played by Jackman, who helps restore the fortune of her late husband’s dilapidated cattle station, the titular Faraway Downs.

The series will also delve into the indigenous perspectives of the movie, including the story of the “Stolen Generations,” where biracial Aboriginal children were forcibly separated from their families.

Get ready to be amazed, at least six times over, with director Luhrmann’s new cinematic miniseries. If you’re unsure if this movie might be your style, check out the article we released a few days ago.

For us, Australia is a hymn to nostalgia, love, and classic cinema, where two people love each other so much that they’ll do whatever it takes to be together and let love triumph. Rarely are two leads more stunning on screen than Hugh Jackman and Nicole Kidman in this film.
