Marvel has finally confirmed the canon status of its Netflix series, and it turns out that, after all, they are part of the MCU. This is very important because, for years, these Marvel universe Netflix series were banished.
Disney Plus presents an official timeline of the MCU, with each project in chronological order. And now the Netflix series (Daredevil, Jessica Jones, Luke Cage, Iron Fist, and The Defenders) are already part of the lineup, confirming that they are part of the main canon.
A status that has taken years to earn
His status in the canon has not been clear for a long time, although Charlie Cox’s Daredevil has appeared in MCU projects such as Spider-Man: No Way Home, She-Hulk, and Echo, while Vincent D’Onofrio’s Kingpin had a role in Hawkeye (and also appears in Echo).
But the series themselves are quite independent, apart from vague references to the MCU in a broad sense (including the Battle of New York, as shown in The Avengers).
Daredevil and Jessica Jones are set between I Am Groot and Avengers: Age of Ultron, while Luke Cage, Iron Fist, and The Defenders are set between Ant-Man and Captain America: Civil War.
Daredevil will also soon have a reboot on Disney+: although the series has undergone a major overhaul behind the scenes, D’Onofrio has confirmed that the new series, titled Daredevil: Born Again, will soon be in front of the cameras.
However, you can now catch up with Daredevil and Kingpin with all episodes of Echo streaming on Disney Plus. The next thing for Marvel is Deadpool 3, which arrives on July 26. Hopefully Disney succeeds with these new projects, they need it.
