For years, we’ve been waiting for the continuation of Dragon Ball Super. The series starring Goku, which officially continues the events of Dragon Ball Z, gained fans a few years ago. It continued with a manga that explored very interesting story arcs yet to be seen in the anime. However, Toei Animation currently has different plans for Dragon Ball: the anime Dragon Ball Daima.

But what is Dragon Ball Daima? According to the studio, it is a special anime to commemorate the franchise’s 40th anniversary. Its story will be somewhat different from the usual. Yes, the protagonists are the characters from Dragon Ball Super… but it will tell a new story in which everyone is turned into children. But let’s watch the trailer to see what it’s all about.

Everyone becomes children again in Dragon Ball Daima

I know what you’re thinking: Is this some kind of a remake of Dragon Ball GT? In the first sequel to Z, Goku reverted to being a child, intending to relive the character’s early adventures from a more modern perspective. However, Daima seems to be something quite different. Yes, Goku becomes a child again, but so do Vegeta and the others, with all that it implies.

Chronologically, Dragon Ball Daima will be set between the end of Dragon Ball Z and the events of Dragon Ball Super, so it’s not a direct continuation of the latest events. However, we can forget about seeing Goku‘s latest transformations… but who needs them with the character as a child?

For now, all we know is that the series will premiere at some point in 2024, the same year we’ll also have an upcoming animated Dragon Ball movie. So, all that’s left is to wait and see if this time they’ve got it right or if Toei has gone ahead with a too peculiar idea.
