Many consider one of the major issues plaguing modern society to be addiction to social media. Spending hours on end watching TikTok videos or reading tweets is something that, most likely, you’ve done more than once.

However, Elon Musk has set out to put an end to this scourge and has decided to impose limits on the use of Twitter (temporarily, jokingly). All jokes aside, this new temporary restriction will mainly affect those who are not subscribed to Twitter Blue.

“Exceeded Limit Quota.” This is the phrase that appeared on numerous accounts and profiles that, unaware of these new changes, found their access to Twitter restricted. Despite many thinking it was a network outage, our dear Musk has come forward to clarify everything: for now, unverified users (non-subscribers to Twitter Blue) will not be able to read more than 600 tweets per day. This restriction is relaxed for those who are subscribed to Blue, who can read up to 6,000 tweets daily.

However, it’s true that 600 posts is a fairly low number: an average user can read them while having a simple cup of coffee. Let’s not forget that this tweet count also includes replies. Have you stopped to think about how many replies you can read in a minute?

The magnate explains that these “temporary limits” will address “extreme data extraction levels.” Incidents within Twitter have caused the social network to be down since five o’clock in the afternoon in countries like Spain, the United States, Brazil, Portugal, or New Zealand.

This is not the first time Twitter has faced a similar problem. Last December, following Musk’s acquisition of the social media platform, access to Twitter was completely blocked.
