Silo has become one of the biggest gems of the year. The original science fiction series on Apple TV+ has proven that the platform knows what it’s doing when it comes to this genre. Over the course of ten episodes, it has taken the audience on a wild ride and left many mysteries surrounding the series.

However, the final episode served to clarify some of the most intriguing points about the show and also paved the way for a confirmed second season scheduled for the summer of 2024. But what does the season finale mean? Rebecca Ferguson, the series’ lead actress, has provided answers.

The lie within the lie

“It’s constantly the lie within the lie. Not knowing what the truth is and following a path, a road, and then realizing that you’re actually on a completely wrong track,” Ferguson explains the series’ conclusion to TV Line.

And indeed, as we can see at the end of the first season, everything Juliette believed to be true is not, as she sees it through her suit. It’s all a deception that she is unwilling to accept, so she decides to explore further. She survives thanks to the thermal tape given to her by Walker and discovers the post-apocalyptic world she has always been in.

The second season, therefore, will serve to continue this story and see Juliette delving into the real world of Silo. Ferguson explains in Variety how this second season will unfold:

“Well, I read Hugh Howey’s books and all of this is part of an odyssey… and it’s a great ending to this part. The philosophy behind it goes beyond the mind-blowing level of shock, right? What is farther and beyond? All these emotions and being able to play with them is exciting. There’s an inner explosion in this world, and it’s about what Juliette will do next with that information.”
