No more mocking a player with the “Get out of here, loser” gesture. The new Fortnite patch, version v29.30, will include an option to filter the most “controversial” gestures.
Specifically, the gestures that can be blocked are “Me parto” (I’m splitting), “Lárgate, pringao” (Get lost, loser), “Azote” (Spank), and “Tela bananera” (Banana fabric). However, this does not mean that they will disappear; they will simply appear immobile. When performing the gesture, the character will not dance and the music will not play. Here, players can choose whether they want to see these gestures only when their friends perform them or block them completely from the game.
The decision to “censor” these four gestures has been made due to their controversial use within Fortnite. Some gestures like “I’m splitting” or “Get lost, loser” are often used as a form of mockery after eliminating another player. The situation has reached such a point that many users have complained about how toxic the use of these gestures has become, as they are used to provoke and disrespect others.
The truth is that this is not Epic’s first problem with gestures. Many of these animations imitate well-known dances and some of their authors have sued the company on charges of plagiarism.
