Another year goes by without E3. The event that used to be the most important in the video game industry is now part of history, and for the moment, it doesn’t seem like it will return. However, video game conferences are more relevant than ever.

Summer Game Fest, PlayStation Showcase, Xbox Games Showcase, Ubisoft Forward, Future Games Show, and Capcom Showcase are just some of the events we have already witnessed, along with their respective announcements. Here are the 6 games that have caught our attention the most from these recent events.

Jusant

Jusant, the new title from Dontnod, certainly knows how to captivate the eye. Its trailer takes us on a climbing journey through a towering structure filled with colorful environments. As explained on the Xbox website, you will need to “master your climbing tools and manage your stamina meter to navigate this mysterious ever-changing tower.

Although it doesn’t reinvent the wheel, its ease of control puts the focus on what’s important: the environment and its atmosphere. Your watery companion, called Ballast, will be responsible for guiding you through the various biomes and uncovering the story surrounding the tower. If you’re eager to try it out, you’ll be pleased to know that there is a Jusant demo available on Steam. Nonetheless, we’ll have to wait until fall 2023 to play the full game.

Metal Gear Solid 3 Remake

We’re sure that more than one fan started to hyperventilate upon recognizing The End’s parrot in the trailer presented during the PlayStation Showcase. Finally, the rumors turned out to be true: the legendary Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater was making a comeback, in the form of a remake.

Furthermore, it wasn’t alone in its announcement, as it was accompanied by another great news: the release of the Metal Gear Master Collection. It’s worth noting that Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater is the first installment in the Big Boss saga. If you’ve always been curious to meet the man who sold the world, perhaps it would be wise to wait for the release of this remake.

Sonic Superstars

The Summer Game Fest 2023 has brought us some quite interesting announcements, such as Sonic Superstars. If you’re a fan of the blue hedgehog and his games, you probably won’t want to miss this.

Within Sonic Superstars, we’ll be able to play both solo and in local cooperative mode (with up to four simultaneous players). The game pays homage to the classic titles of the franchise but with a refreshed graphical and gameplay experience. However, it doesn’t solely rely on nostalgia. Takashi Iizuka, the producer of Sonic, explained that they decided against recreating zones like Green Hill in favor of completely new environments. As for its release, we know it will happen sometime in the autumn of this year.

Starfield

Between the Xbox Games Showcase 2023 and the Starfield Direct, one thing became clear: Starfield is the most ambitious title Bethesda has developed to date. Although the company has had its share of failed releases (Fallout 76, cough), they want everything to be different with Starfield. With an almost infinite map, procedural planets and landscapes, and thousands of lines of dialogue, Starfield seems to encapsulate an entire space metaverse within itself.

They are so confident in their product that even Matt Booty, head of Xbox Game Studios, declared that Starfield has the “fewest number of bugs of any game shipped by Bethesda“.

Metaphor: ReFantazio

Atlus doesn’t stand still. After the announcements of Persona 5 Tactica and Persona 3 Remake, the company wasn’t satisfied and delivered another bombshell during the Xbox Games Showcase 2023: Metaphor ReFantazio.

The previously known Project Re Fantasy rises from its ashes with a new name and a quite spectacular look. As if that wasn’t enough, the team behind this game consists of veteran developers from Persona and Shin Megami Tensei. All in all, this game is definitely one to keep an eye on.

Star Wars: Outlaws

Massive Entertainment has made the dreams of many Star Wars fans come true with Star Wars Outlaws. The first open-world game in the galactic saga made its appearance first at the Xbox Games Showcase 2023. Following that, we were treated to an incredible gameplay presentation during Ubisoft Forward 2023.

In Outlaws, players will assume the role of Kay Vess, a down-and-out criminal always accompanied by Nix, a small alien. The game takes place chronologically between the events of ‘The Empire Strikes Back’ and ‘Return of the Jedi’, a period marked by intense conflicts between the Rebels and the Empire. Stealth and combat will be key in Outlaws, as players strive to establish a reputation within the criminal underworld. To experience it firsthand, we’ll have to wait until 2024.
