There will be a day when we won’t be able to trust our eyes. And while we thought that would be many years from now, it’s possible that by the end of 2024 we will be in real trouble. The culprit is called Sora.
OpenAI left many people speechless last month when they shared the first images created by Sora, their AI-based text-to-video generator.
The quality was not perfect, but extraordinary, and many wondered what transformative impact this technology will have on creative industries, including Hollywood.
An elephant made of leaves and a pirate cat
OpenAI has not yet released Sora to the public (it is expected to do so by the end of this year), but the company is thrilled to continue impressing everyone by publishing videos generated by Sora on their social media.
The last one seems like a fragment from a fantasy movie and it has been generated from a simple text: “An elephant made of leaves running through the jungle”.
OpenAI claims that Sora did all the work and that the resulting video was not modified in any way. And the truth is, we believe them perfectly.
Of course, any respectable video creation tool has to be an expert in cat videos. Sora passed with flying colors when presented with the text: “An adorable pirate kitten riding a robot vacuum cleaner around the house”.
The future of videos goes through Sora and it’s not scary at all. But it’s the reality and the future is here.
