Controversy at the Golden Globes

This edition takes on a special significance as the first one without the Hollywood Foreign Press Association (HFPA) behind it. The Golden Globes have made headlines in recent years, primarily due to controversies. In 2021, the HFPA faced severe criticism for the complete absence of nominations for Black individuals. Following this, more accusations surfaced, including allegations of abuse of power and overall malpractice. The situation became so untenable that the 2022 ceremony was held in private.

Now, the HFPA has been dissolved, and the Golden Globes are under the control of Eldridge Industries. This entity also owns Dick Clark Productions, the company responsible for broadcasting the ceremony.
