There are only 7 days left for us to enjoy one of the most anticipated compilations of the last decade: Metal Gear Solid Master Collection Vol. 1. After a stint on PlayStation 4 and Xbox One where we weren’t fortunate enough to play the original Metal Gear Solid games in their entirety, Konami has taken matters into their own hands to ensure that doesn’t happen on PS5, Xbox Series X | S, and Nintendo Switch with the first of these editions.

Today, thanks to a post from the Metal Gear Network profile, we have learned the file sizes of each installment in the saga. This information became available through the pre-download of the games, which is now enabled for next Tuesday. Currently, the storage required is as follows:

  • Metal Gear Solid: 8.45 GB
  • Metal Gear Solid 2: Sons of Liberty: 16.06 GB
  • Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater: 14.77 GB
  • Additional content: 654.42 MB

Most likely, someone is wondering why the games take up so much space, especially considering that the original ones didn’t weigh this much. We must take into account that the releases sometimes include different versions with all their corresponding dubbings, as well as additional material related to the game itself. Additionally, in the case of the first Metal Gear Solid, for example, the Special Missions are also included.

All Metal Gear Solid releases will run at 30 frames per second and 720p in handheld mode on the Switch (1080p in docked mode), while on PS5 and Xbox Series X | S, they will run at 1080p and 60 frames per second for the second and third parts, whereas the first one will run at 30 frames per second.

Konami has not confirmed the content of Volume 2, nor has it announced the assigned release date. It is expected to be in 2024.
