IKEA, the world’s largest furniture retailer, has launched a new assistant called IKEA AI, a design, inspiration, and home shopping tool powered by AI, available exclusively on OpenAI GPT Store.
The Ikea artificial intelligence assistant has been created in the GPT store to help users. It will tell us everything about their products and display them in a room so that we can get an idea.
And this should not come as a surprise to us, as Ikea is no stranger to technology. In recent years, the retail giant for home goods has been offering a lot of smart home products.
Ikea also launched a virtual home design feature in its app called Ikea Kreativ in 2022. The Ikea AI assistant is currently available for ChatGPT Plus users in the United States, and the company plans to expand access to more geographical areas soon.
What does Ikea’s artificial intelligence assistant do?
The IKEA AI Assistant represents the first interactive experience of its kind in the GPT Store. With the IKEA AI Assistant, users can:
- Use GPT to articulate your specific home design needs and receive personalized recommendations. For example, ”Show me a cozy living room design for a small apartment using sustainable materials”.
- Explore IKEA’s extensive catalog with thousands of products, from minimalist designs to artistic collections, and check their availability in different locations.
- Get inspired by design ideas and real home transformation stories in the global IKEA community, as well as expert decorating tips.
With this advancement, IKEA wants to make our lives easier, the question is whether this change will result in layoffs in their stores in the form of workers who no longer have public-facing roles to fulfill.
