The well-known brand Lenovo celebrated its Lenovo Tech World ’23 event on October 24th. During the conference, we saw a mix of technological advancements and projects, among which a curious prototype of a foldable phone stood out.
Presented by Lexi Valasek from the Motorola Innovation Research team, this device represented the latest iteration of Motorola’s concept of a foldable phone. Essentially, it is a gadget very similar to the one Motorola presented during Tech World 2016 and has the ability to fold to almost impossible limits. Additionally, it features an OLED panel with a size of 6.9 inches.
As expected, this model is much more advanced than the one presented in 2016 and offers more possibilities, especially when it comes to folding. During the conference, they placed the prototype in various positions to demonstrate the full potential of the hardware. In fact, Valasek placed it on her own wrist, as if it were a bracelet. It left us with an image that undoubtedly reminded us of the flexible wristbands that were so popular in schools.
Despite the spectacular nature of the invention, its presentation was rather brief. After two hours of the conference, the phone had only two minutes in the spotlight. First, they discussed the concept itself, and then a short demonstration was done, showcasing a wallpaper generation feature.
It appears unlikely that we will see this device appear in any stores, not even in the near future. At least, this brief moment has allowed us to reminisce about a time when phones used to be more fun.
