It is an open secret that, from a young age, Martin Scorsese wanted to portray the life of Frank Sinatra and his relationship with the Italian-American mafia. And now, after The Godfather portrayed the singer with an alter ego named Johnny Fontane, a character that already made the musician’s inclinations clear, Sinatra will return to the cinemas, this time directly, in a movie about his life.

Although the project has not been officially announced yet, Variety assures that Scorsese is preparing a film about Sinatra, and in it he will have two of the actors of the moment. On the one hand, there will be Leonardo DiCaprio, his usual muse, who will play the singer. And on the other hand, there will be Jennifer Lawrence, who will play none other than Ava Gardner, Sinatra’s second wife, in the film.

Scorsese and DiCaprio fall in love again

No further details have been revealed about the film, but it is expected to come right after the project that Scorsese is currently working on. This particular project is Jesus, a film based on the novel A Life of Jesus by Shusaku Endo. This project is currently in production, and the director only needs to choose his lead actor. The names being mentioned are Andrew Garfield and Miles Teller, so in any case, it will be a very exciting project.

As reported by Variety, despite Martin Scorsese being fully involved in the Jesus movie, the Sinatra project is already moving among studios, with several brands wanting to bet everything on it. The one that sounds the most, at first, is Sony Pictures, which would like to continue its relationship with the director after The Moon Killers… despite this movie being a small failure.
