Months ago, Microsoft began reorganizing the leadership team in charge of the Xbox division. This reorganization has led to the departure of Kareem Choudhry, one of the company’s most veteran executives.
According to Windows Central, his last day was on April 5th, after more than 26 years working at Xbox. He was described as “one of the most beloved figures within the company.” Choudhry is mainly recognized for his work within the Xbox backward compatibility program, as well as being a key player in the creation of Xbox Cloud Gaming. In recent times, Choudhry had focused on Microsoft’s artificial intelligence division for Xbox, known as XEmTech.
Choudhry’s departure has triggered profound changes within the Xbox leadership. One of these changes is led by the XEmTech organization, which will now move to the Xbox hardware section, led by Roanne Sones. According to an internal memorandum, Microsoft states that moving the team to the artificial intelligence department will accelerate innovation in this field.
The company is already planning what will be the next generation of Xbox, where there are expected to be major changes within its strategy.
