After the “death foretold” of Cortana, Microsoft continues with its murderous cravings and has decided, in this case, to put an end to one of its oldest programs. We are referring to WordPad, the text editor that has accompanied us for 28 years in Windows.

Considering the importance of lists, let’s dive into how to manage them in Microsoft Word.

WordPad was in a kind of limbo between Notepad and Word. Without having the complexity of the latter, it had more features than the former. Due to its stay in no man’s land, Microsoft has decided to put an end to WordPad’s life, which has resulted in its complete elimination from future versions of Windows. The company itself has discouraged its use in favor of Word for text documents and Notepad for plain text.

According to the official statement published by Microsoft, WordPad will no longer receive support in the form of improvements and updates of any kind in the future. A logical move, since the Redmond-based company has completely changed its office software offerings and is nowadays engaged in its Office 365 service. As expected, WordPad has ended up becoming a program that had no place in the current landscape.

To know the first version of WordPad it is necessary to go back to the release of Windows 95, when it was released as a substitute for Microsoft Write. Despite its lack of options, it used to be a “lifesaver” program when editing a document, as long as you had not paid for an Office license. Like programs such as Paint, it came pre-installed as standard in Windows.
