New clues seem to indicate that a new Far Cry is in the works. At least that’s what the new job offers published by Ubisoft suggest. The French company wants to fill new vacancies for its studios in Canada, Sherbrooke, and Toronto.
It has been the Portuguese media Geekinout who has echoed the news. The positions to be filled would be that of technical director of animation, chief animator, game design team leader, associate producer, art team leader, programming team leader, level designer, and technical artist, all established for a “Far Cry Project”. What kind of project? We still don’t know anything beyond its relation to the saga.
Far Cry 6 was released in 2021 and since then, little has been said about a possible Far Cry 7. The first indications of this emerged in 2023, from Insider Gaming. According to the media, the seventh installment would seek to deviate from what we had already seen before. To do this, the developers would have implemented a timer as a novelty, which would serve to restrict the player when playing the campaign mode.
If it turns out to be true, it would conflict with one of Far Cry’s most popular features, the ability to explore an open world. For now, the only thing clear is that Ubisoft is working on a title within Far Cry. Only time will tell if it is indeed Far Cry 7. As for release dates, rumors suggest it could happen at some point in 2025. Of course, nothing is confirmed, so this information should be taken with a grain of salt.
If you are passionate about the world of Far Cry, for now you will have to settle for its sixth installment. Far Cry 6 is available for PC, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, and Xbox One.
