According to a few prominent Windows watchers, it seems that Windows is secretly working on a few new features for Windows 11. These features could include background stickers and a hidden taskbar for Windows 11 on a tablet, among others.
Windows 11 launched in October last year, but recently Microsoft announced that they would test out a few new features in the Windows Insider Dev Channel OS. They also mentioned that not all of these features will make it to the final release or any particular Windows release.
Since the announcement, avid Windows watcher Albacore announced on Twitter that he’d uncovered a few new features already on the test version of Windows 11. One of the features will allow users to place stickers on the Windows background. You’ll be able to do so through the Sticker Editor app, which is available on the personalization description found within your settings. From here, you can click on ‘Add sticker’ to add them to your background.
It also seems that Microsoft is testing a Windows 10-like tablet mode for the new version. This feature will allow users to hide their taskbar when using their device as a tablet. At the moment, there is no tablet mode available on Windows 11. Adding this feature will make it more convenient, especially for users using a Surface Go or Pro after detaching the keyboard.
There also appear to be a few environmental tweaks to Windows 11. You can find these under the sustainability section within settings. Using the new ‘Eco Recommendations’ feature, you can improve energy consumption, and there are tips on recycling your device.
Finally, it also seems that Windows will be introducing more options to schedule uninterrupted focus time with the feature Focus Assist (which Microsoft may rename to Focus soon). Currently, users can only control focus time through the clock app, but they may soon get an option to control it through Outlook.
Although Microsoft is just testing these features at the moment, if they make it through to the beta stage or even in the release preview, chances are we’ll see these improvements in the final release as well.
