Rumors suggest that Nvidia is gearing up to refresh its range of graphics cards with the RTX 40 series. This shouldn’t come as a surprise, considering Nvidia’s 1000 and 2000 generations had Super models, despite users’ dissatisfaction with the confusing nomenclature.

The latest news is a supposed leak of a box, revealing that Nvidia might be working on an RTX 4070 Ti Super model for an early next year release.

We’ve seen Super and Ti refreshes from Nvidia in the past, but never a Ti Super model. The name might not matter much, but it does remind us of some of the most ridiculous names we’ve seen in other tech brands.

For instance, Apple’s M2 Ultra, for example, is a better chip than the M2 Max, so it seems that Ultra is better than Max. Who would have thought?

A name that is an offense to customers and common sense

MEGAsizeGPU has shared an image on Twitter, which they claim is the logo on the box of the RTX 4070 Ti Super. The stacking of brands might be a consequence of Nvidia’s sudden rebranding from the original RTX 4080 12GB.

The card was originally named RTX 4080 12GB, but after a wave of reactions, Nvidia adjusted the name and price of the card.

This isn’t the first time we’ve heard about the RTX 4070 Ti Super, although most recent rumors have focused on an update to the RTX 4080 Super.

Currently, leaks suggest the card will come with a significant increase in core count and replace the RTX 4080 at the $1,200 price point, pushing the original model down.

There are also rumors about the RTX 4070 Super, which appears to be a slightly cut-down version of the RTX 4070 Ti with lower power consumption. It’s not clear at what price this card will be launched, if it is indeed released, but it could be around $650 to $700.

If Nvidia is going to launch new GPUs, we can expect them to appear at CES 2024. That’s the timeframe suggested by the leaker kopite7kimi, who has a fairly consistent track record with Nvidia releases.

Although we don’t have official news that Nvidia is working on a Super refresh, it would make sense. Nvidia has already adjusted the prices of some of its GPUs in response to AMD cards like the RX 7800 XT and RX 7900 XTX.
