Yesterday the first Super graphics cards from Nvidia’s RTX 4000 family went on sale. The first one to arrive has been the RTX 4070 Super and what we are hearing from the American offices is that sales are too low.

According to several American media outlets that have been investigating the issue, sales of this graphics card were relatively mediocre on the first day of release. Even in the MSRP models (assembled by Nvidia themselves), which usually sell out quickly on launch day.

In addition, it is rumored that the stock of the RTX 4070 Super is slightly lower than expected. This means that not only are there stocks on the shelves, but shipments are scarcer than expected. Which translates into selling little, even after lowering expectations.

Nvidia feared low sales

Some of the quotes from MLID sources include that the launch inventory of the RTX 4070 Super is approximately half of what the RTX 4070 had at its launch, and that sales of the new Super are “very low” and only MSRP models are actually being sold.

Other sources commenting on the sales are even more negative: one person claims that sales are a “disaster” on the first day, and another points out that the figures for the RTX 4070 Super are worse than those for the RTX 4080 on launch day.

The source that made the comment about the disaster belonged to a graphics card manufacturer, and also expressed some frustration about receiving orders from Nvidia to promote custom models with a higher price than the MSRP, while Team Green sells its Founders Edition at the recommended price directly from its own website.

Now it’s time to see how the RTX 4070 Ti Super and RTX 4080 Super perform in launches, which will be arriving throughout this January. If the bad trend continues, Nvidia will have to do something about the prices.
