One Piece is a manga that continues to gain more followers. While the original comic moves forward under the helm of Eiichiro Oda, who promises to be in the final stretch of his story, the anime is currently at one of its best moments, and Netflix’s live-action adaptation has proven to be a huge success. However, as the series progresses, doubts persist about what will happen at the end of One Piece.

As the series’ prologue rightly states, it’s all about the race for the One Piece, to see which pirate will follow in the footsteps of Gol D. Roger and manage to claim his hidden treasure. But how is the race progressing at the moment? Below, we present the pirates who are closest to obtaining this coveted hidden trophy.

7. Buggy the Clown

Despite being a meme, as we saw in the Netflix series, Buggy is the most beloved character by Oda and has managed to become a Yonko, one of the four most powerful pirates in the world. However, he was a crew member of Roger’s pirates and might know secrets about the One Piece that no one else does. Besides, he possesses unparalleled influence due to his position. We don’t know if he has any Poneglyph, but it wouldn’t be surprising.

6. Hinozuki

Hinozuki is a character about whom we still know nothing, but who is likely to appear very soon in the series and will have significant importance. There are rumors, coming from Eustass Kid and Blackbeard, that Hinozuki possesses a Road Poneglyph, although there is no further information on this matter. According to many fans, this character could be Monkey D. Dragon, but it’s all still just a rumor.

5. Eustass Kid

After the battle against Kaido and Big Mom, this Supernova managed to obtain copies of the two Road Poneglyphs held by the two pirates. This puts him very close to the One Piece, but the last we heard about him is that he lost a battle against Red-Haired Shanks, so things look quite grim for the magnetic pirate.

4. Trafalgar D. law

Similarly to Kid, Law had at least two Poneglyphs when he left Wano. However, he also lost to Blackbeard in their own struggle, so it wouldn’t be surprising if the wicked pirate snatched them away.

3. Luffy

We now know that Monkey D. Luffy, the protagonist of the anime, has three of the four Road Poneglyphs in the series: he possesses the stones from Zou and the ones held by Big Mom and Kaido. He only lacks one, but that doesn’t mean he has it easy, as there are two other Yonko who are also seeking the same goal, and they won’t make it easy for him.

2. Blackbeard

If we consider that Edward Newgate, the great villain of One Piece, has just stolen two Poneglyphs from Eustass Kid, it wouldn’t be surprising if he is the one closest to Laugh Tale, since it is assumed he already had some others before. He is undoubtedly the series’ ultimate enemy to defeat, and he won’t make it easy for Luffy in this final race.

1. Shanks

Finally, the red-haired man is the one with the most chances of reaching Laugh Tale first. His former captain, Roger, already achieved it, and he possesses 3 out of the 4 available Poneglyphs, lacking only the one from Zou, a place he visited in the past. So, everything seems to be leaning towards this character, although the series could take a major turn in its final plot.
