Despite the thousands of criticisms and accusations of plagiarism surrounding Palworld, the truth is that no one can deny its success. After selling over 6 million copies in just four days, the game by Pocketpair has achieved another milestone: becoming the second game with the most concurrent players in the history of Steam.

And its numbers are incredible. According to SteamDB, Palworld managed to gather a whopping 1,864,421 simultaneous players last Tuesday. Thus, the title surpasses the figures achieved by Counter-Strike 2 (1,818,773) and Cyberpunk 2077 (1,054,388), two of the games that obtained the most players during these last years. It still falls short of surpassing PUBG, which holds the first place for having reached 3,257,248 concurrent players.

After this milestone, Pocketpair expressed their enthusiasm in X with a small message addressed to the community: “Thank you for playing despite it being a workday! The team continues to work so that you can enjoy the game more comfortably.”

Since its announcement to the world, Palworld has been pointed out on social media for allegedly copying Pokémon designs and models. Plagiarism aside, users also suspect that Palworld may have used generative artificial intelligence during its development. However, Palworld seems to live by the famous expression “as long as I’m happy, let the people laugh” and for now, it continues to enjoy the attention of millions of players worldwide.

Palworld was released in Early Access on both PC and Xbox last Friday, January 19th, and it is also available on Game Pass.
