We had been hearing rumors for quite some time about the return of Red Dead Redemption. The John Marston installment had been in the spotlight for a few months due to the potential release of a remake or remaster of the original game. So, what ended up happening? Well, neither of those happened. Instead, what was released was a simple port of the original game without any enhancements.
This port of Red Dead Redemption for PlayStation 4 and Nintendo Switch will arrive in stores on August 17th, while a physical edition will be available on October 13th (also for both platforms). Its launch price will be 49.99 euros. Quite expensive for a port that doesn’t include any enhancements. The price for the physical version is expected to be the same.
The edition in question is identical to the original 2010 game, although new translations have been added, including simplified and traditional Chinese, Korean, Polish, Brazilian Portuguese, Russian, and Latin American Spanish. Additionally, it comes with the Undead Nightmare expansion, which features undead creatures as the main focus.
The port’s development is handled by Double Eleven, the British studio that has been involved in other projects like Fallout 76. There is no version for Xbox One or Xbox Series X | S for a simple reason: the game is backward compatible with the system, so having a copy for Xbox 360 achieves the same result. In fact, our recommendation is this: if you have an Xbox, play it there. By the way, we still know nothing about the PC version…
