Sea of Thieves, the famous pirate game by Rare, has managed to sweep like few titles can. Since its release in 2018, Sea of Thieves has managed to attract millions of users, whether they are from Xbox or PC. So much so that the game has reached an impressive milestone: being played by 40 million players.
According to the announcement published by Rare on social media, the 40 million players are divided between Xbox, Microsoft Store on PC, and Steam. As we can read on Neowin, the game’s executive producer, Joe Nate, has expressed his joy in the following way:
“As you can probably imagine, when it comes to Sea of Thieves, my days are filled with numbers. Development costs, active servers, days until the next update… However, sometimes, an extraordinary figure manages to stand out: a number like 40 million, which I am delighted to say is the amount of pirates that have already sailed in Sea of Thieves!”
Neate has also expressed his excitement for the release of Sea of Thieves on PlayStation 5 and states that he is “eager to see new faces” next weekend.
On the other hand, the studio will launch the Golden and Glorious Weekend to celebrate 40 million players, which will be active from April 19th to April 22nd, 2024.
