Discord
Many Reddit refugees are finding a home on Discord, especially gamers. There are numerous gaming communities on Discord, as well as dedicated servers for topics related to music, science and technology, entertainment, and much more.
And if you can’t find a server that suits your preferences, or if you simply want to chat with a small group of friends, you can create your own server.
Compared to Reddit, Discord is more like a chat room and less like a forum (if you’ve used Slack, it’s quite similar to that). The emphasis is more on interacting with your peers and less on posting links and memes.
Beehaw
Beehaw is relatively new and relatively small at the moment, but it is one of the closest approximations to what Reddit offers, and it’s worth exploring as a substitute for Reddit.

Slashdot
Slashdot is one of the most well-known and established news aggregators on the web. It has been operating since the late 1990s and has amassed a large number of loyal followers. Most of the articles published are related to technology, but there are also sections for science and entertainment, so you’ll always have plenty to read.
In a similar fashion to Reddit, the posted stories and links are accompanied by comments and discussions below, so if you’re looking for a place to discuss the day’s news as well as find it, Slashdot is a perfect fit.

Hacker News
If you primarily use Reddit to stay informed about what’s happening on the internet, Hacker News is an alternative worth considering. It is a simple and straightforward site, featuring a list of trending articles that are of interest to the tech community, but it always offers compelling content.
Users also contribute to the discussions by adding comments and engaging in debates below the articles, and the comments themselves can be ranked just like the stories.
If you come across something interesting on the web, you can also share it on Hacker News. While it’s not a complete replacement for Reddit, it fills the void in terms of information and news.
9Gag
If you enjoy Reddit primarily for memes, then 9Gag is the place for you. It may not be particularly sophisticated, but there’s a lot to explore here across a plethora of categories.
