Playing online with your friends is one of the most fun experiences there is, as long as you don’t come across any undesirable in the matches. Blizzard knows this very well and now brings a new update with the aim of improving the experience of Overwatch 2.

Blizzard has published on its website the news that will be included in the next major update of Overwatch 2 for Season 10. The first one is the inclusion of Expanded Groups, which will allow us to play with our friends in Competitive mode regardless of their rank. This way, we can team up with any type of player, regardless of their experience in Overwatch 2. On the other hand, players who decide to go solo in Competitive mode will never face Expanded Groups.

No more game abandonments: these are the penalties

Blizzard has also announced new adjustments that would serve to discourage players from leaving matches. In non-ranked matches, players who abandon four of their last 20 played matches will have to wait 20 minutes before being able to queue again. This wait could reach four hours if they abandon at least 6 of their last 20 matches.

There will also be two additional levels. The first one is a five-minute penalty for leaving two out of the last 20 games played. The second one is a 48-hour suspension for those who leave 10 or more games out of their last 20 played.

In Competitive mode, abandoning matches could result in the complete elimination of your participation in the season. Below, you will see the table with all the updated penalties. Blizzard also reminds players that disconnections also count as abandonments.

There are also new measures to prevent harassment among players. Thus, Streamer Protect will change its name to Hide my name and will serve to, precisely, hide your name. When activated, your public battletag will change to another randomly generated one. This measure will not be useful for the most annoying players, as they can still be reported in the same way.

Avoid unwanted players

Blizzard introduces in this update the Avoid as Teammate feature. This allows players to choose not to be matched with specific players on the same team. There are also new penalties for those who disrupt chat or do not play fair in matches. If you want to know more, below is a link to the note published by Blizzard.
