Just a few days ago, we said goodbye to the Summer Game Fest 2023, the video game event organized by Geoff Keighley that “took the reins” from the canceled E3 this year. Like every year, we witnessed dozens of game announcements from many industry giants, including PlayStation, Xbox, and Capcom.
But if you’re craving for more, don’t worry because Valve brings you the Steam Next Fest, a digital event that takes place from June 19th to 26th, where you’ll have the opportunity to try out dozens of demos from a wide variety of upcoming games. Here are the games that have caught our attention the most and whose demos are already available.
En Garde!
The big surprise of this year’s Future Games Show. ‘En Garde!’ is a highly charismatic action game where we control a swordswoman who fights with practically anything within her reach. The combat is incredibly fun and fluid, the characters are full of life, and as the cherry on top, the game’s world directly draws inspiration from Spanish culture (with diverse references such as the existence of a “paella with chorizo”). If you haven’t tried it yet, you’re missing out.
Lies of P
The story of Pinocchio, the wooden puppet that comes to life, has been told in many ways, but Lies of P takes a different approach to bring us an experience that will leave no one indifferent. We find ourselves in a dark and steampunk-inspired soulslike game where we must face all kinds of creatures in frenetic battles where we will die quite a few times. Many times. Fans of the Dark Souls, Bloodborne, and other games by Hidetaka Miyazaki have a new game to enjoy.
Jumplight Odyssey
Ever wish you could leave it all behind and go far away? But I mean really far away? Jumplight Odyssey is a marvelous roguelite simulation game that allows you to explore every corner of the galaxy with your own spaceship. You’ll lead your crew, manage your ship’s resources, improve it, and defend it against attacks from other ships that won’t make it easy for you. Plus, its characters have all sorts of unique stories, moods, and interactions with each other. And there’s a really cute piggy you can pet.
Sea of Stars
If you’re a fan of classic turn-based RPGs, Sea of Stars will capture your heart from the very first image you see. With breathtaking artistry, Sea of Stars tells the story of two Children of the Solstice who combine the powers of the sun and moon to wield Eclipse Magic, the only force capable of facing the monstrous creations of the evil alchemist known as The Butcher. Explore, defeat enemies, level up, acquire treasures, and assemble an unbeatable team in a vibrant and lively world.
