If you are from Madrid or live in Madrid, this information will interest you like no other. From this Friday May 12 until Monday May 15, in the city of Madrid takes place the big festival of the capital: San Isidro.
The reason that San Isidro is the feast of Madrid is something quite curious, although the story is nothing epic (as it is that of the uprising of May 2).
May 15 commemorates the feast of San Isidro Labrador, who since his canonization in 1622 is the patron saint of the Villa y Corte de Madrid. He is also the patron saint of farmers and of many towns with an agricultural tradition, so his cult is deeply rooted throughout the Catholic world.
May 15 is a holiday only in the city of Madrid and, from Friday May 12 to Monday May 15, all kinds of activities are held. For example, free concerts all over the capital. Here you have them all sorted by places and days:
