The trend of video games towards sequels, remakes, and remasters is natural when games cost as much or more than a movie. Although that is something that people like the CEO of Microsoft are clear about, it doesn’t mean that we wouldn’t like to see more risks. More different video games, not only in the indie sphere, but also in the big productions. And it seems that one of those occasions is just around the corner.
The first game from Yellow Brick —a studio founded by Mike Laidlaw, creative director of the Dragon Age franchise, Thomas Giroux, Jeff Skalski, and Frédéric St-Laurent B. in February 2020—, has received its first teaser. With a team of 68 people, this game, yet to be named, will be fully revealed next month and has a planned release date for 2025.
According to Laidlaw, it is an adventure and action game set in a fantasy world. His intention is to do something new and, although he is aware of the problems that plague the industry today, he is optimistic about the possibility of “holding our destiny in our own hands”. That is why, although we will still have to wait a little longer to know all the details, we can already appreciate the evocative teaser of this new game. And wish Yellow Brick the best.
