Everyone is hooked on Succession and no wonder. HBO Max’s series is pleasing everyone and every week millions of viewers gather in front of the couch to watch each new episode.

And the strongest thing we’ve learned is… the length of the last episode. The series finale of HBO’s Succession will be 90 minutes long, according to one of the key members of its creative team.

In an interview Wednesday, Emmy-winning series composer Nicholas Britell confirmed the rumored length to Variety.

A chapter that could be a movie

“It’s 90 minutes,” Britell said. “It’s a huge episode, like a movie.”

The episode will be directed by “Succession” executive producer Mark Mylod and will air on Sunday of the weekend of May 28 (in the U.S., in Spain it will be Monday 29).

Although little else is known about what’s to come, American media have made it clear that the series is coming to an end with this season… and there will be nothing more. The network is not developing any spin-off.

A finale where the Roy family will not end well

Season 4 saw the major plot twist of the death of patriarch Logan Roy, followed by the decision to name Roman and Kendall CoCEOs of Waystar Royco, with Shiv involved in the decision-making process.

The potential sale of Waystar Royco to Lukas Matsson draws ever closer, but causes existential angst and family division among Roy’s children as they anticipate what their lives will be like once the deal is completed, if it goes through at all.

The series can make history at the 2023 Emmys

As for the Emmy Awards, the series is considered the favorite for the Best Drama Series award (it has already won twice), and Culkin and Strong are among the frontrunners for the lead role.

Sarah Snook will enter, for the first time, in the lead actress in drama category for this year’s Primetime Emmys. Cox’s spot has yet to be decided.

Succession is created by Jesse Armstrong and first hit television in 2018. Since then, the series has triumphed season after season and in this fourth, the latest, fans have been going wild from the very first episode.
