The answer is that in the 2025 edition of the Guinness World Records, Jujutsu Kaisen has been declared the most popular anime in the world. Specifically holding the record for “Most in-demand animated television show in the world”, it includes not only anime, but all animated series in the world. This has been echoed by both the official English and Japanese Twitter accounts of the series.
With competitors like One Piece, Attack on Titan, or Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba, this is a great achievement for Jujutsu Kaisen. A demonstration of how anime is more popular than ever today. And that, indeed, the most popular series of the moment is not always necessarily the one we expect.
