As we mentioned yesterday, Meta is a bit concerned about their new social network called Threads. This app, which perfectly imitates Twitter, managed to attract 100 million users in its first 5 days. However, it has been deflating since then.
Although for Mark Zuckerberg, this decline is normal, the reality is that Threads showed great promise at its launch, and the lack of tools and utilities has gradually led to its decline.
To regain users and increase the customer base, Meta has several ideas they believe can work. Beyond introducing options that already exist on Twitter, they are talking about introducing distinctive innovations.
A chatbot that will mimic celebrities… even dead ones
Meta will launch numerous artificial intelligence chatbots with different “personalities” in September of this year, in an attempt to regain interest in other products of the social media giant.
According to the Financial Times, these chatbots have been in preparation for some time with the goal of having more human-like conversations with users to increase engagement on social media.
The attempt to give various chatbots different personalities seems similar to the social AI chatbot seen in Snapchat’s “My AI” earlier this year, which generated some excitement but quickly faded away.
According to the report, Meta is even considering a chatbot that speaks like Abraham Lincoln, as well as one that offers travel advice in the style of a West Coast surfer.
These new tools are poised to provide new search features and offer recommendations, similar to how the popular AI chatbot ChatGPT is used.
This new series of AI chatbots may be an attempt to remain relevant, as the company may be focused on maintaining attention after Threads lost over half of its user base just a couple of weeks after its launch in early July.
Meta’s long-running “metaverse” project also doesn’t seem to have generated enough interest, and the company shifted its focus to AI as its main area of investment in March. It appears that Facebook is unsure about the future direction.
