Video game adaptations to the small screen have just received a boost from one of the most important television ceremonies. HBO can proudly say that they did it: The Last of Us is a global success.
The Last of Us, The White Lotus, and The Bear emerged as the big winners at the 2024 Creative Arts Emmy Awards on Saturday night.
The Last of Us, from HBO, was by far the big winner, with eight victories. The Bear from FX, Netflix Wednesdays, and The White Lotus from HBO each won four.
The winner was HBO and its series The Last of Us
The Last of Us was awarded the Best Guest Actor and Actress in a Drama Series by Nick Offerman and Storm Reid, respectively. The series also won in the categories of visual effects, image editing, sound editing, and other key categories.
Judith Light won the award for Best Guest Actress for Poker Face, while “Ted Lasso” favorite Sam Richardson took home the award for Best Guest Actor in a comedy.
The Roku channel prevailed over more established competitors and took home the award for the telefilm “Weird: The Al Yankovic Story”. The real Yankovic was present to accept the trophy, expressing shared feelings by other winners about the importance of embracing one’s true self.
By the way, the 2023 Emmy Awards have been delayed three months due to labor conflicts in Hollywood last year. That is, the strikes by screenwriters and actors.
To finish, Daisy Jones & the Six, from Amazon Prime Video, and The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel obtained two victories.
