Mortal Kombat 1 has been a success, even if its Switch version had issues that went beyond the humorous. But it’s undeniable that, on current-generation consoles, the game is a luxury. Graphically spectacular, gameplay-wise interesting, and with content arriving at a constant pace, the game has managed to find a space to shine, even when the entire pie seemed already divided between Street Fighter and Tekken. Something that will also be aided by its new cameo.

NetherRealm Studios has finally revealed the trailer for the first playable character they will include in the game. One that will also be a familiar face for those who have watched Invincible, the popular animated series on Prime Video. It’s none other than Omni-Man, the popular superhero voiced by J.K. Simmons.

In the trailer, we get to see Omni-Man’s combat style, which is exactly what we would expect from him. It’s dry, direct, and brutal, with no concessions to elegance or anything resembling robust technique. It’s pure brute force, unleashed speed, and of course, savage fatalities, including a scene involving a train that Invincible fans will instantly recognize, with more than a few looking on in genuine horror.

Omni-Man will arrive in November as the first playable character of the Kombat Pack, which is priced at 40 euros. However, he can also be purchased separately for a price yet to be determined. Mortal Kombat 1 is available on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X, Xbox Series S, Switch, and PC.
