About a month ago, Sony announced to all players the launch of a new model of PlayStation 5. Although it was not officially called PS5 Slim, this is the name that has stuck within the community, as the main difference compared to the original model is its size, something we have been able to confirm -now for real- thanks to its first images.
In these photos posted by the account ChitoGamingLive on Twitter, the user shows what the new PlayStation 5 looks like both individually and alongside its older sibling. The difference is more than visible (and palpable when held in hands) with just a simple glance, especially regarding the console’s height and width. There is no doubt about it.
It’s essential to remember that this PlayStation 5 on the inside is exactly the same as the previous models, with the only difference being a storage capacity of 1 TB instead of 825 GB. Therefore, the internal specifications remain the same, though not in terms of overall size.
It is important to remember that this model of PlayStation 5 is being released in the market during this month of November in the United States. Sony did not provide a specific date, only that its commercialization would begin in the said country and would roll out gradually in the following months. With these initial images circulating, it’s evident that some players have been able to acquire this model.
PlayStation’s strategy is to exhaust the remaining stock of the previous version before gradually releasing the new one. There is no doubt that there are still many PlayStation 5 consoles in stores, so in Spain, don’t expect to see this new model until almost spring 2024.
