Discovered by Tech4Gamers, this new job listing for a Visual Effects Director position claims that the EA-owned studio is “looking for a senior 3D artist like you to help us create the most realistic and exciting destruction effects in the industry“.

Ripple Effect is currently one of the multiple studios working on the Battlefield franchise, which has undergone significant production restructuring following the disappointing launch of Battlefield 2042.

The latest installment from DICE was a cold shower for fans of the saga, who experienced a large number of bugs in the first weeks after the release, to which we must add the reduction of features and game modes such as the 128-player Breakthrough mode, which was reduced to 64 players in the 4.1 update.

DICE is currently working on a future multiplayer experience for the Battlefield series and will co-develop the next single-player campaign for Battlefield with Ridgeline Games, the new studio from Halo co-creator Marcus Lehto. According to EA, Ripple Effect is developing a “completely new Battlefield experience that will complement and build upon the foundations of the series”.

The Los Angeles developer had previously acted as a support team for other studios, including collaborating with DICE to develop Battlefield 2042. In December 2021, EA announced its intention to create a “connected Battlefield universe” along with widespread changes in the franchise’s development structure.

As part of these plans, the former CEO of DICE, Oscar Gabrielson, completely left EA, while the co-founder of Respawn and Infinity Ward, Vince Zampella, took on a new role as supervisor of the entire Battlefield franchise.
