Disney certainly can’t get enough of revisiting (or trashing, depending on who you ask) the classic movies of our childhood. Although it’s still a long way off, the Mickey Mouse company is already preparing what will be the live-action remake of Bambi.

Disney first spoke back in 2020 about its intentions to adapt Bambi. It also revealed that Geneva Robertson-Dworet and Lindsey Beer would take on the role of screenwriters. In case you don’t know these names, Dworet can boast of having participated in the script of the ‘Tomb Raider (2018)’ movie and also co-writing ‘Captain Marvel’. Beer on the other hand is responsible for ‘Sierra Burgess is a Loser’, a Netflix exclusive film.

However, little did we know about the Bambi production and its status, until now. Deadline reported that Sarah Polley is in negotiations to direct the live-action remake of Bambi. According to this media, Bambi will be a musical with songs composed by Kacey Musgraves (winner of 6 Grammys). As for the script, this latest version would be written by Micah Fitzerman-Blue (‘Maleficent: Mistress of Evil’) and Noah Harpster.

Be that as it may, it seems that the project is still alive and kicking. Bambi was the fifth animated film released by Disney in 1942. In addition to traumatizing countless children around the world, the film has also inspired other projects such as its horror version, Bambi: The Reckoning (yes, this exists).

The film will also arrive after Disney’s latest flesh-and-blood adaptation, ‘The Little Mermaid‘. Even so, this is not the company’s only live-action project: we have already confirmed that we will see on our screens a remake of ‘Hercules’, ‘Vaiana’, ‘Lilo and Stitch’… We have remakes for a long time.
